From Kaikoura, the spectacular coastal road gives way to equally stunning scenery as it makes its way South towards Christchurch. |
| This was our second visit to Christchurch, since we flew into here in the first place but we only saw the airport. Our overnight stay was at the fabulous Charlotte Jane hotel, named after one of the first ships to bring immigrants to New Zealand. Formerly a boarding school for young ladies and built in the 1930's its been beautifully restored by the current owners. Huge rooms and superb facilities and hospitality make an unforgettable stay. | |

The superb Alexander Lawrence restaurant of the hotel is housed in a
conservatory. Dinner by candelight is a must do.
