Fuel system:
Fuel system components will only fail the test if they are insecure or leaking.
Cracked or deteriorated fuel hoses must be leaking to fail.
Fuel caps must fasten by a positive means (this usually means a screw or bayonet fit) and the sealing washer must be present and in good condition.
Temporary caps do not normally meet these requirements but there are some which do pull down onto the seal and form a positive fit.
The objective is to prevent the leakage of fuel, particularly if the vehicle rolls and the inspection will therefore require the tank neck to be satisfactory in order to meet the need to provide a positive seal.
Locking fuel caps or access panels which cannot be opened will result in a "refusal to test".
